Hangingday :: Journal :: The argument for the separation of Church and State in one easy photo:
The Friday Thing also has an interesting idea. If we've seperated State and Church (and we sort of have, just need to keep it that way) what's the next step?
Seperation of State and Business.
That sounds like one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time.

BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair's 'shameful' treatment of Kelly
BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair's 'shameful' treatment of Kelly:
"Tony Blair's evidence at the Hutton inquiry has failed to defuse criticism of the government's treatment of arms expert Dr David Kelly.
The Tories and Lib Dems criticised Mr Blair as it was announced by the Hutton inquiry that it would publish 130 new documents on Friday at 1400 BST.
Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith accused the prime minister of 'underhand' and 'shameful' treatment of Dr Kelly, who killed himself days after giving evidence to a government committee..
Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy said he was not sure if 'knowing what we know now' MPs would back war with Iraq. "
Bit late now Charles. Still, I'm sure the 6000 dead Iraqi civilians won't mind you having second thoughts now.

BBC NEWS | Technology | Youth suspected of net attack
BBC NEWS | Technology | Youth suspected of net attack:
"An American youth has been allegedly identified as one of the authors of the crippling MSBlast internet worm, say reports.
The 18-year-old suspect is said to have already been questioned by the FBI, which is expected to reveal further details later on Friday.
The MSBlast worm was responsible for one of the worst computer security outbreaks of this year.
It spread quickly across the internet a couple of weeks ago, infecting hundreds of thousands of Windows computers worldwide. "
Unless of course you use some sort of firewall or AV software. So when they say "thousands of Windows computers" (no such thing btw, only computers running Windows, not the same), they actually mean "thousands of numpty AOL customers".
I use Norton IS, which is a combination of firewall and AV tools. It's not the best out there but I happen to like it. Of the 3 recent "virus scares" I have seen nothing. Nada. Not a single attempt. I am on broadband and my machine has been on for around 4 weeks constantly so I am probably the easiest target there is.
Buy some protection before you start whinging.

BBC NEWS | Health | Staff 'too busy to deliver baby'
BBC NEWS | Health | Staff 'too busy to deliver baby':
"A 26-year-old woman says her fiancé was forced to deliver their baby at home after staff at the local hospital said they were too busy to help.
Sally Earnshaw said she phoned Watford General Hospital to say her waters had broken and she was in labour.
But instead of being told to come in, she claims she was told to take paracetamol and have a bath.
Miss Earnshaw said she called the hospital repeatedly but staff refused to believe she was about to give birth.
One midwife told her she was not in labour and she 'should have read the books more carefully'. "
9 hours later her boyfriend delivered the baby at home.
This is your NHS. The one you pay for. What a fucking shower they are. I hope she sues for millions. And the people involved lose their jobs as they obviously aren't up to the task.
So, are you or your partner pregant? Get reading 'cause the NHS might not want to deliver it for you.

Hangingday :: Journal :: Whoever is going to take over the asylum?
Hangingday :: Journal :: Whoever is going to take over the asylum?: "The Red Cross are pulling out of Iraq. Anyone who's visited their life-changing Musee Internationale de la Croix Rouge in Geneva will know this is not a decision they take lightly. They've sent their people into places you wouldn't want to visit in your nightmares."
They are pulling out because they generally believe it is unsafe for their people to be there. One thing an occupation force must do to comply with the Geneva Convention is to provide adequate protection for medical teams.
Go and read the article, there's so much more and its ALL important.
Oh, and it also means no inspection of the 8000 Iraqi POWs as well. How convenient.

BBC NEWS | Health | Children throw away healthy lunch:
"Most children throw away healthy items in their lunch boxes, a survey reveals.
Two out of three children said they regularly discarded sandwiches, while one in three bin fruit.
However, they are more likely to eat crisps and biscuits - just one in five of those questioned said they would throw these away. "

US vows 'no retreat' from Iraq
BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | US vows 'no retreat' from Iraq:
"US President George W Bush has said there will be no retreat from Iraq or from the war against terror.
Mr Bush was speaking to US military veterans as the number of American deaths since the end of major combat operations on 1 May surpassed the number killed during the war.
Mr Bush told the gathering in St Louis, Missouri, that it was a choice between 'civilisation and chaos'.
Opposition politicians in the US have criticised his speech with one Democrat dismissing it as 'empty rhetoric'.
A US soldier was killed and two others wounded on Tuesday in an attack on a convoy in the town of Hamariya - about 25 kilometres (16 miles) north-west of Baghdad.
Figures released by the Pentagon showed that the number of deaths since 1 May had risen to 139, of whom 62 were killed by hostile fire.
Up until 1 May, 138 US troops had died in Iraq. "
